Dr. Kai MacDonald is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He specializes in addiction treatment, dual diagnosis, psychotherapy, neuropsychiatry, and behavioral medicine, and is the author of “Why Not Pot? A Review of the Brain-Based Risks of Cannabis.”
Dr. MacDonald has been named by his peers as one of the Top Doctors in San Diego
County. In addition to his private practice, he is a member of the Clinical Faculty at the University of California, San Diego, Department of Psychiatry and Family and Preventative Medicine. He has published peer-reviewed research in a number of fields, including attachment, addiction, attention-deficit disorder, and oxytocin.
