Julie Lythcott-Haims, author of the NY Times Best Seller, HOW TO RAISE AN ADULT: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success, joins the podcast to discuss her book, the huge problem with “helicopter parenting,” and the harm it’s doing to our kids. We discuss solutions, her TED Talk, and her newest book, Real American.

About Our Guest

Julie Lythcott-Haims served as Dean of Freshmen and Undergraduate Advising at Stanford University, where she received the Dinkelspiel Award for her contributions to the undergraduate experience.

She holds a BA from Stanford, a JD from Harvard Law School, and an MFA in writing from California College of the Arts. She is a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto, and resides in the Bay Area with her husband, two teenagers, and her mother.

She is the author of two books: How To Raise An Adult and Real American.
