Gregory Pence is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He is the author of the standard textbook on bioethics, called Medical Ethics, which is now in its 25th year and Eighth Edition. He is also the author of five other books, three of which are devoted to human cloning.

Gregory Pence has taught Medical Ethics at the University of Alabama Medical School for thirty-four years, and still directs their Early Medical School Acceptance Program.
